about

Elijah Jalil is a singer-songwriter based in Missoula, Montana. Originally from the Bay Area (CA), Elijah made his way towards the mountains after studying theater in Portland, OR to work on his Masters of Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Montana. He is a dedicated social justice artist focused on changing the world by creating and collaborating on all forms of art.

Largely inspired by Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, and other Pop genres, Elijah started his journey with a guitar and his voice. After playing at multiple open mics around Missoula, the consistently magical collaboration with Britt Arnesen helped this debut album, Nothing to Say, come to life.

lyrics

8. DON’T CRY
Words and music by Elijah Jalil

My oldest memory was when I was a young boy
Going into show and tell with a new toy
It was a fire truck
I got it from my uncle

It's kindergarten, I'm excited and my truck is red
Ended up in the front of class and then I said
This is my fire truck
I got it from my uncle

This is the last thing he gave me before he died
And before I could go on I cried and cried

Like ohhhh
Ohhhhhh

Don't cry... that's not what men do
Don't cry... I'm tryna tell you
I'm alright... I'm tryna tell you
I'm alright

Don't cry... that's not what men do
Don't cry... I'm tryna tell you
I'm alright... I'm tryna tell you
I'm alright

Don't cry... that's not what men do
Don't cry... I'm tryna tell you
I'm alright... I'm tryna tell you
I'm alright
