about

Elijah Jalil is a singer-songwriter based in Missoula, Montana. Originally from the Bay Area (CA), Elijah made his way towards the mountains after studying theater in Portland, OR to work on his Masters of Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Montana. He is a dedicated social justice artist focused on changing the world by creating and collaborating on all forms of art.

Largely inspired by Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, and other Pop genres, Elijah started his journey with a guitar and his voice. After playing at multiple open mics around Missoula, the consistently magical collaboration with Britt Arnesen helped this debut album, Nothing to Say, come to life.

lyrics

MILES TO GO
Words and music by Elijah Jalil

I’m a cryin’ lion
At the top of a mountain
Can nobody hear me roar?

I’m a week old eagle
And my wings are little
I can’t wait ‘til I can soar

High above the clouds
Look at me now
I am being loud

Never coming down
Imma be here for a while

Cuz I can go for miles and miles and miles and miles
And miles and miles and miles
I can go for miles and miles and miles
And miles and miles and miles to go

I’m a lucky human
I don’t what know what I’m doin’
but I’m movin’ right along

Been a lonely person
Lord knows I’m hurtin’
I ain’t perfect, but I’ll stay strong

High above the clouds
Look at me now
I am being loud

Never coming down
Imma be here for a while

Cuz I can go for miles and miles and miles and miles
And miles and miles and miles
I can go for miles and miles and miles
And miles and miles and miles to go

(Bridge)
Cuz I got time
And I’m not done just yet

And I got smiles
I know the pain’s all in my head

That’s what I tell myself
so I don’t end up dead

instead I pretend like

I can go for miles and miles and miles and miles
And miles and miles and miles
I can go for miles and miles and miles
And miles and miles and miles to go

I can go for miles and miles and miles and miles
And miles and miles, miles to go
I can go for miles and miles and miles
And miles and miles and miles to go

I can go for miles
I can go for miles
Oooh ooh ooh

I can go
I can go
I can go
I can go
I can go

Go
Go
