about

Elijah Jalil is a singer-songwriter based in Missoula, Montana. Originally from the Bay Area (CA), Elijah made his way towards the mountains after studying theater in Portland, OR to work on his Masters of Fine Arts in Acting at the University of Montana. He is a dedicated social justice artist focused on changing the world by creating and collaborating on all forms of art.

Largely inspired by Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul, and other Pop genres, Elijah started his journey with a guitar and his voice. After playing at multiple open mics around Missoula, the consistently magical collaboration with Britt Arnesen helped this debut album, Nothing to Say, come to life.

lyrics

11. WAIT AND SEE (with HUDSON JAMES)
Words and music by Elijah Jalil and Hudson James
w/ music by Britt Arnesen

Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world
Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world

Stop, drop, and roll
The world’s on fire
But we’ll keep going, growing, showing up
Til the day we fly like —

Stop, just a second
Think about all of your friends
All of your connections
The people you care about most in your life (yes, yes)

I know you’ve got a ways to go
But you ain’t gotta do this all on your own, so
Ask for some help, and you’ll be just fine (you will)

Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world
Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world

Stop, just a second
Find a seat by the brook in your local kitchen
Think about all the things that you thought that day

It’s quite likely you’ve got something on your mind
You gotta feel it,
You gotta be honest from time to time
But take a breath and you’ll be just fine

Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world
Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world

Stop, wait a minute
Think about all the things that you did
Don’t be trippin bout all them thangs that you didn’t do (Don’t do it)
Just keep moving and grooving
Yeah, you can do it I promise
I’m honestly on your side
What a time to be alive

Look at the sky, the birds, the trees,
The earth, the dirt
Mama, I heard you,
I know I don’t deserve you

I’m working on being enough for me
Won’t you sing for me, please
And I’ll sing for you
And you and you…

Stop, just a second
What did you say?
You did all of that
You did all of that, today?

Dude, that’s amazing
You made some really great progress
Whatever that means
Whatever you need it to be
It doesn’t matter to me, you see

I just care about you, and me and us
It’s a very, very special
Very special kind of we

Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world
Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world

Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world
Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone change the world

Just wait and see
We gone change the world
We gone the change the world
